The Joy of Uncertainty

I wish to start a new life. One filled with questions and concerns.

One filled to the brim with uncertainties.

For I know that, in this sort of life, I will be ever present.

Ever wondering. Ever curious. Ever in awe—

of the magic every day will bring.

The discomfort will twist my hair around my fingers,

And I’ll shake at the pulse of my anxious heart,

But, my! How my life would be full!

Full of blessing. Full of presence. Full of adventure.

Never a dull moment. Always a surprise.

Always a miracle unfolding every day.

I wanted to share this quick thought with you to embolden you, that often, the greatest pieces of our lives are made up of moments we never planned for— moments that just happened because we weren’t micro-managing every detail.

I am particularly excited for my life ahead because this is a big transition year for me. I am going to begin studying nature-based early education online through the University of Cincinnati, I also intend to get married and move. An end of an era, and the start of a whole new one! And it’s okay to not know all of the answers. It’s okay to not have it all figured out. I surely don’t. But moving on is a necessary step in life— and the best part is, you don’t have to have permission to do so!

So, I just wanted to encourage you today and remind you that the point of life is to live and to live to the fullest. And much of that time spent truly living, is allowing yourself to let go of the expectations and even previous agreements, and just permitting yourself to fly, even if falling is a possibility.

Atticus, my favorite poet of all time, says this,

She was afraid of heights— but more afraid of never flying.

So, believe in the dance before you, and give it the energy that you feel matches the melody.
